Harvest
Our Harvest Festival took place in St Michael’s Church on Friday 3rd October. It was lovely to see so many family and friends in Church and the many gifts of fruit and vegetables made a fantastic display. All the produce donated by our families was given to the Cyrenians.

Remembrance Service
The School Remembrance Service was held at the village War Memorial on Friday 7th November. In a poignant outside service, the children remembered those who had given their lives for our freedom. Many parents and villagers joined us at the War Memorial.

School Light Festival Day
The whole school came together to look at four different world festival days, and how they celebrated them, using light. Mrs Abrams led the fantastic day and parents joined us for soup, made by the children, and in a grand finale watched candle lit boats float down the ‘river.’ Hexham Abbey We visited The Abbey on Monday 15th December. After a tour of the Abbey we took part in Christmas workshops and had a thoroughly enjoyable morning. |
Christmas Nativity – ‘The Most Disgruntled Snowman.’
A packed hall enjoyed two performances on Thursday 18th December. They watched the plot unfold as the cross snowman gradually became less harassed, as the Nativity characters worked their charm on him. Carol Service The term ended with a carol service in St Michael’s Church on Friday 19thDecember. The Church was packed with parents and friends. |
Service for Mothers
On Friday 13th March we held a lovely service in school with poems and hymns in celebration of our mothers. The children presented their mums with bunches of daffodils.
Zip The Tyne
On Saturday 14th March Mrs Lewis, Mary, Mrs Bell and her daughter Jess all took part in a fundraiser for the stroke association. It was a hair raising, tummy flipping venture as they zip wired over the Tyne. Between Wark and Greenhaugh schools we raised £1500 for charity.
Hexham Abbey Pilgrimage
We had a really enjoyable day at Hexham Abbey on Tuesday 17th March. We took part in workshops, creating, making and learning about the Easter story. Our day was brought to a close as we joined many other schools in the Abbey for a fantastic Easter Service. All the craftwork from the day was used to tell the Easter story and the Easter hymns we had learnt filled the Abbey with a wonderful sound. It was lovely to see so many parents at the service.

Tynedale Music Festival
We took part in the Tynedale music festival at the Queen's Hall on Friday 20th March. We entered the Hymn singing and the Choral classes and thoroughly enjoyed taking part. We were over the moon when we won the choral class as the standard was very high. We returned with a very impressive trophy!

Race for Life
Our Race for Life was held on the Village Green on Friday 22nd May. With pink cakes, cups of tea and lots of running, the children and parents enjoyed a great afternoon and raised a fantastic £714.50 for cancer charities. Cathedral Leavers’ Service On 17th June Year 4 went to the Leavers Service in Newcastle held in the Cathedral. Along with other Church Schools they took part in a lovely service to mark the end of their time at First School. |
Houses of Worship Visit
Everyone had a good time on their visit to the Hindu Temple and Hare Krishna Centre on Tuesday 30th June. As usual the religious leaders were very happy to see us and were pleased to share their beliefs and traditions with the adults and children. The children dressed up, played musical instruments and enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Hare Krishna Centre.
