To celebrate the Christian festival of Michaelmas the Owls group enjoyed a dragon-themed session in our nature area. We met a sleeping dragon and the children told a story to explain how it got there. Here is their story: The dragon was asleep and then it flew. A man came to hunt it. The man had a guitar and played a lullaby to get the dragon to sleep. The dragon lived in the woods. The dragon flew to the woods and then ate the man! He beat his wings and the leaves fell off the trees. They had a tea party and ate chocolate cake. A magic wand changed the dragon good. And the dragon said sorry because he was ruining the things that God made. I am friends with the dragon and he always makes my food. The dragon turned naughty again and turned the man into a frog! The dragon bashed the tree down! We made dragons out of clay and collected natural materials to make the wings, tail, scales and teeth. Some of us rode on dragons around the pond!
