This week we celebrated the arrival of Advent by making Advent crafts! We also listened to a Sami creation story 'from the North Pole' .
We made a yule log by drilling holes for our advent candles to go in. Our advent candles were whittled from elder.
We made advent wreaths using evergreen materials.
We worked closely with 'tree-tastic' Andy from Living Woods North East CIC to plant a food forest in our school field.
It was a real team effort and a huge THANK YOU goes out to all of the grown-ups who helped out on the day.
We made 'tree food' to give our baby fruit trees the best start, locally sourced from Green Man Enterprises. We mixed compost from our chicken area with apple pressings and bio-char (also donated from Green Man Enterprises).
This is a special time of year for trees nationally, with National Tree Charter Day on Saturday 24th and National Tree Dressing Day on Dec 1st. To celebrate, we decorated our favourite trees and took part in a range of tree-themed activities during the day.
